🕉️ Significance of Simhastha in Ujjain 🕉️

Simhastha is one of the four Kumbh Melas held in India and is celebrated only in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. It is a sacred congregation of spiritual seekers, saints, akharas, pilgrims, and yogis from across the world, held once every 12 years when the planet Jupiter (Brihaspati) enters the zodiac sign of Leo (Simha Rashi) while the Sun is in Aries (Mesh Rashi).

📜 Mythological Background

According to ancient Hindu scriptures, during the Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Cosmic Ocean), a few drops of the Amrit (nectar of immortality) fell at four locations—Ujjain, Haridwar, Prayagraj, and Nashik. These sites became the holiest places on Earth, where the Kumbh Mela is held. Ujjain, also known as Avantika, is the city of Mahakal (Lord Shiva), and holds great spiritual and astrological importance. It is said that bathing in the Shipra River during Simhastha grants moksha (liberation) and purifies all sins.
